Tomorrow I will be starting the second semester of my Junior year at Texas State University in San Marcos. It is so crazy to think how fast these few years have gone by but it makes me so happy to look forward to what’s yet to come in the near future. I’ll be honest, I am actually really excited to be out in the “real world”. Since I mentioned my school, I must brag about it for a moment because it is such a beautiful campus. Even though it’s not “listed” as one of the most beautiful campuses in Texas, the people who go here and visit here are amazed by its charm. When I was initially doing my college search, I had narrowed it down to a few colleges in Texas that had the major I was looking to study, which was Fashion Merchandising. Texas State ended up being the only school I applied to and I knew I was automatically accepted because of my SAT scores, so going to college was not a stressful and intimidating ordeal like it is for so many people, lucky me! My point is that I had no yearning desire to attend a certain school nor did my parents make a prior decision for me. I picked a school based on the program they had for my intended major and I truly believe that I struck gold. The opportunities I have had in these short couple of years have surpassed my wildest expectations, including “field trips” to NYC where I made connections with people and professors I will likely have for the rest of my life.
I always get really excited when classes are about to start back up again. And yes, I am one of those girls who actually dresses “cute” for class, it makes me feel like I can conquer the world and all you haters should live your own life because me dressing up does not affect you at all… but I digress. A new semester is an opportunity for me to do better then I did the previous semester (pretty new folders and spirals are a plus too) and I love to prove to myself that I can keep climbing higher. It’s delightful to see yourself improve and I hope that y’all will work hard enough to get to experience how great the feeling is for yourselves. I want to wish everyone reading this the most amazing semester yet, whether you’re in college or you’re the parent of a college kid (because I know that is just as stressful). Give it all you’ve got and remember that the hard work will pay off. The stress will be worth it and all your student loans will eventually be a thing of the past.
